Black Beard, Seafood Island

Boyps and I celebrated his birthday at Seafood Island. As usual, we had to roam around the Mall of Asia to pick where to eat.  Boyps wanted to have dinner at Seaside but I told him that we had lunch there last year during his birthday too with his family. Since he wanted to have somewhat far from what a “fast food” usually serves, we both agreed to dine at Seafood Island.
Seafood Island serves a variety of dishes. They also have “feast meals” that includes specialty dishes from different provinces here in the Philippines.
So here’s what we had:

Clams in French Garlic Soup (Php 220) – It’s a soup with generous servings of clams and garlic.. Haha. This one is good to jumpstart our stomachs.

Small Shrimp Rice (Php 135) – it’s a fried rice sautéed in butter with carrots and shrimp. This was just ok. Too buttery for us but the serving size is just perfect for the two of us.

Lechon Kawali Pakbet (Php 240) – it’s the usual pinakbet but this one is topped with 3-pc lechon kawali. We both didn’t like this. I don’t know how exactly to describe the taste but its saltiness is different. We were not able to consume the vegetables so we had it wrapped. But the lechon kawali is perfect! It’s crunchy and yummy. Sana mas marami ung Lechon kesa sa gulay. :p
Gambas Galera (Php 390) – served in a small sizzling plate with bell peppers, sili green, mushrooms and super cute shrimps. Haha. The shrimps are really small. Its flavor is sweet and a bit spicy. It’s quite different from the usual Gambas dish I know. Serving size is quite small so it’s a bit pricey for me.
Garlic and Cheese Overload (Php 295) – oysters with cheese on top. I was really disappointed when this was served. The cheese was overbaked. L I was expecting this to be the dish of the night but it failed us. The taste became bitter so we had to remove some of the cheese on top. L I even asked the waitress if this one is better than the usual Oyster Rockefeller since overload has MORE cheese and garlic. But when we saw our order, I just whispered to Boyps “kung eto ung overload, pano na itsura ni Rockefeller?”. Haist.
does this look appetizing at all?

Buko Pandan (free) – I told the waitress that it’s Boyps’ birthday so they gave him a buko pandan gelatin. We both just had a scoop of it. And since it’s free, bawal magreklamo :p
Overall, it was just the soup and the lechon kawali that made us happy that day. Haha. The service was okay. The ambiance is perfect. There are more to try at MOA so bawi na lang next time.
