It’s not my first time to try this food chain. I first saw
Big Better Burgers (BBB) during its soft opening way back then in their SM North Edsa branch. I
didn’t enjoy the experience so whenever I see BBB, I don’t include it as "where to eat" option. But Boyps and I were in
University Mall and saw BBB again. Since we’ve
almost tried all the fast food chain in the area, I asked him if he wanted to give
BBB another try and he said yes.
The place was not packed even if it’s Friday night. The
variety of food they offer grew from the first time I visited them. Even if
they have Katsu rice meals as new dishes, I still opted to try their burgers. I
got their Jalapeno burger while Boyps ordered their BBB Value Meal.
Jalapeno burger (Php 152)has a single patty with sliced jalapeno and
lettuce topped with cheese. Boyps’
BBB Value meal (Php 140) included a quarter pounder burger
patties with lettuce and tomato, french fries and soda. The burger variant I chose has no value meal so I had to order a glass of
Iced Tea (Php 28).
Both burgers have the same patty. It was super juicy, it
wasn’t oily, has a very light smoky flavor and really flavorful. The juice
comes out every single bite. The spiciness of jalapeno in my burger was
tolerable. Actually, I would like it even more if it’s spicier. I really enjoyed our
burgers that night and I really wanted to go back! The photos may not look appetizing but trust me,
super sarap talaga sila!

The fries were thicker than usual and salted just right.
You may want to dip it in tomato catsup then add a bit of spicy sauce or mustard.
I ordered a serving of
Potato wedges (Php 65) and we enjoyed this too. It was thick and soft with thin crispy
coating. Yummy.
If you are craving for some delicious burger, go and try Big

Another weekdate with Boyps and I was craving for some
chicken wings. I knew that he will suggest Flaming wings and there we ended up
having dinner that night. We had been here once before and I could still
remember how spicy (or should I say super spicy?) their spicy chicken was. So this
time, I settled for the mild ones so I can enjoy the wings a lot better.
For starters, I asked Boyps to order
Garlic Fries (Php 99). The fries were thick and not too oily, though
the garlic flavor was missing. It was actually topped with toasted garlic but the fries did not absorb the flavor. It wasn't salty at all too. Good thing
we have dips from our chicken meal that we used to add some flavor to it.
We ordered
5 pc.
Chicken wings (Php 235) and the waitress said that we can choose 2 sauces
and dips for that. We had Bleu Cheese and Honey Mustard for dips and Smokey BBQ
and Mild and Sweet for the chicken sauces. At first, I wasn't sure which is which when our
chicken was served. Its taste was almost the same except the sweetness from the
mild and sweet sauce was really evident.
Both sauces were slightly spicy and salty. We just notice that the
chicken weren't hot and it was a bit hard. The breading wasn't crispy and
there's just a little meat in some of the wings. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed
the chicken with assorted dips. :p
Boyps ordered an individual meal which is the
Tenders Meal (Php 125). It's a chicken
fillet with sauce and dip, served with rice and a glass of Iced Tea. The
chicken wasn't so tender, it was sliced too thin and the breading was a bit
hard. I was reading some huge post-its on the wall and guests did enjoy the
tenders meal but for me it was just so-so.
Boyps says: "The
chicken tenders were bigger the last time I tried it, ngayon parang fries na
lang yung size niya".
The place was packed when we arrived so we waited for
minutes before we got our seats. Staff told us to place our orders while waiting
to be seated. Staffs were nice, ambiance was good and service was just okay.

Boyps and I just had our first food trip in Bambang! I find this place quite a Binondo-like because it was surrounded with lots of restaurants and eateries. Just after my check up at Metropolitan hospital, Boyps had already an
idea where to bring me for lunch. Just in front of the hospital is a noodle
house named
Lan zhou la mien. The place was small but air-conditioned. It was a bit jam-packed when we arrived so we
had to share a table with other guests.
Menu is few as compared to other Chinese restaurants and that
made it easy for us to select what to eat.
First off, we ordered
Egg Cha Gan (Php160) - fried
rice with scrambled eggs, sausages and green veggies. It was not oily, the
serving was just okay, but the taste is quite ordinary. It was a bit bland but
the soy sauce from our dumplings helped to improve its taste.
We wanted to have some soup so we ordered
Beef Knife Mien
(Php 120). Thick noodle soup with big chunks of beef and few Chinese
pechay.
It was such a good choice. The soup was seasoned nicely and the noodles
really made us feel full after consuming half of it. There are cut onion leaves and another
veggie that can be added to make it more savory.
Fried and Steam dumplings (Php 170). This was a combination
of steamed and fried kutchai dumplings. This was actually not written in the
menu but it just so happened that Boyps wanted steamed, while I preferred fried so I asked the server if we can have half-half and she said yes. Hihi. I like their version of this dumpling - the combination of ground chives and meat is perfect. The chives were not overpowering.
The fried dumplings were not oily and the wrapper was crunchy. Try it with
their special sauce plus the chili sauce.:)
I also ordered Black Gulaman and didn't like it so I ended
up drinking Boyps' order which is Honey Calamansi juice.

Just before a holiday (this was another late post), Boyps
and I had dinner at
Yutaka Izakaya. He’s been eyeing this restaurant for a long
time already and it just so happen that I was craving for some noodles soup. I’ve been feeling cold ever since I started
working. It looks like my jacket was not enough to give me comfort while
working in a very cold environment.
Anyways, we both think that it
was a perfect timing to finally try this restaurant. Yutaka Izakaya is a
Japanese restaurant serving a variety of noodles, rice meals, maki and sushi. The ambiance was cozy and really “japanistic”. Haha. They
have low tables were guests will sit on the floor with pillows.
Here’s what we got for dinner:
Katsutoji set (Php 149) – this
is closely similar to pork tonkatsu meal. The only difference was, the porkchop
was mixed with scrambled egg and drizzled with some sauce. This meal set comes with rice
and miso soup. The soup was great but not as tasty as
Sakae Sushi’s version.
The pork was a bit pale but with the help of soy sauce, its taste has improved.
I wanted some soup so I got one for myself. I ordered
Nabeyaki Udon (Php 239). It was a thick noodle soup with veggies and tempura as toppings. It was delicious and soothing. This is quite similar to
Nemoto's version. I miss Nemoto already. :(
Service was fast and crews were nice. It was such a fun food trip experience again with Boyps.

Boyps and I were not in the mood to try a new restaurant or
to spend much money so we settled at Pho hoa (besides, it's rainy season already). We've been to this place for so
many times and in different branches but I seldom order for hot noodles (I love their tofu. Hihi). I'm enjoying the food here because I really find it delicious.
Anyways, here's what we had for
dinner:
Large Seafood Noodle Soup (Php
325) – thick noodles with squid balls,
shrimps and fish fillet mixed with some green vegetables. It was good but not a
hit! There's not much seafood in our bowl (They have this spicy beef noodles and it was way way better). K
Fried Rice Paper Roll with Pork
and Vermicelli (Php 129) – The paper roll was crunchy and the
filling was really flavorful. I love the vinegar that comes with it. It was sour with some kick of sweetness.
Service was indeed fast and
crew was just okay. It was really the vermicelli that saved my day. J

I've been eyeing this restaurant for quite some time. I was able to try thai food once when I was in Singapore and I could say that it was good - spicy and aromatic. Anyways, we're supposed to try Rai Rai Ken but we found out that Rob Manila branch has closed already. Boyps and I thought that it was a perfect timing to finally try this restaurant.
Sukothai (Php 278) – noodle soup topped with
thin slices of meat, 2 pieces of meat balls, fried tofu, bean sprouts and lots
of ground meat. It was flavorful (as in) because of the cilantro (not sure :|). The
waitress told us that it was a bit spicy but Boyps and I find it very sweet.
But it was a good starter.
Bagoong Rice (Php 188) – perfectly salty fried rice with plenty of sides. It has small chunks of tocino, a slice of salted egg and lemon, thin slices of green mango, red and green chili and onion. This is a must –try dish. I guess this serving is more or less 2 cups of rice.
Fish Red Curry (Php 288) – fish fillet in
curry sauce. This one has beaten me up. I love spicy and curry foods but I gave up
after consuming my first fillet. The curry flavor is just so powerful. It
wasn’t spicy but the aroma has won over me. It was indeed good. The
problem is on me because Boyps was able to eat everything.
Yung mga dahon ung nagpapalakas ng lasa. :|
Soi also serves appetizer - wonton chips and spicy peanuts. I so loved it. I even asked for a another set and the waiter gladly refilled the plate. It was a fun food trip experience.

Boyps was so curious about this. Every time we passed by
Sakae Sushi, we always stop by to check the sushi and maki on their rotating table.
I’m not a fan of sushi but I love maki. We were both hesitant at first since we
really don’t have any idea if the variety is enough to have a super
sulit dining experience. One
Saturday, after our swimming exercise, we both agreed to try their buffet.
Sayang ang exercise :p
Their buffet is Php 399 and it includes miso soup and bottomless hot / cold green tea. The miso soup was extremely delicious. I maybe overreacting but it was really the best miso soup I have ever tasted. The flavor and aroma were perfect. How I wish the buffet also comes with unlimited soup refill. Hihi.
Anyways, here are some pictures of what we have picked from their sushi bar:
Corn - favorite #1
Tuna - favorite #2
The pink plates are the expensive one. Yummy indeed!
just okay
errrrrr.... :|
Our goal was just to eat more
than the worth of the buffet price and we succeeded. We gave up after eating 15
plates. I even had difficulty walking. I got so full. L The maki we have tried
were all delightful. But some of the maki have the same taste, they only differ
in filling. I enjoyed the experience but it’s not something that I would love to go
back to. :)

Months ago, I purchased a Red Mango voucher at
Deal Grocer. After clicking the buy button, I was thinking why I bought not just 1 but 2 vouchers considering that I'm not a fun of yogurt. I didn't like its taste but I have no choice but to avail my P600 worth of food and drinks at Red Mango
(baliw lang). Boyps and I decided to use the 1st voucher upon arrival at mall and the 2nd after dinner. So here's what we consumed all in all:
Medium Yuzu Lemon Swirl with Toppings (Php160) - it's the combination of Original and Yuzu Lemon yogurt. I chose mango and almond mochi toppings while Boyps had Mandarin Orange and cereals. I love the mochi. It was so delicious that it made my yogurt really enjoyable. I also tried the other mochi variant but I enjoyed the almond mochi more. It's a must try! (Medium Yogurt is Php125 + Php35 for 2 toppings)
with mango and mochi toppings
with mandarin orange and cereals toppings
Mango Yogurt and Kiwi Yogurt Smoothies (P99) - Unexpectedly, I enjoyed this. It's a fruit shake with a swirl of yogurt on top. The combination of sweet and sour taste was perfect. The flavors of the fruits were so evident. Well I guess that's the reason why I loved it.
We're supposed to try their waffles but unluckily, it's not available when we came back to avail the 2nd voucher. I just had the same order with different toppings. Hihi.
Overall, I enjoyed the experience!

I asked Boyps to accompany me at SM San Lazaro to buy Christmas gifts for my
pamangkins. It was another Saturdate and late lunch with him and he said that he wanted to try Inasal Chicken Bacolod. This is the green one.
I’m a bit confused with the Bacolod Chicken Inasal – the yellow one. Boyps said that our friend
Je told him that the green one is much better than the yellow one. I actually wanted something deadly but he preferred a slightly healthier one. Since I haven’t tried this one, I gave in. Here’s what we had for lunch:
La Paz Batchoy (Php 103) – a noodle soup with beef strips, spring onions, egg and chicharon. It was good but nothing special. It’s not oily and flavorful.
Sizzling Boneless Bangus (Php 142) – I ordered this one. The saltiness is perfect. It’s crunchy and tasty. This is a rice-all-you can meal. I had requested for a half-cup rice refill but the serving looks like it is 1.
Boneless Thigh (Php 140) – a typical chicken inasal. But not like the Mang Inasal’s chicken. This one is better and I like this more. More flavor and much juicy. Just like the bangus, this is also a rice-all-you can meal. Boyps asked for a cup refill of rice but the serving is just big. I assume he had a total of 3 cups of rice. Bwaha.(healthy huh? :p)
I haven't tried the green one yet but I could say that I enjoyed my dining experience here at Inasal Chicken Bacolod.

Mexican Express is one of my favorite stalls in University Mall. I had my first burrito experience here and it satisfied me so well. It’s made up of Mexican rice, chicken or beef strips, onions, tomatoes, jalapeno and cheese wrapped in a tortilla. Unlike other burritos, theirs is not messy to eat. It was wrapped in such a way that nothing will fall each time you bite. The 1st time I tried this, I ordered their Super Chicken Burrito and I got so full that I gave Boyps some of it. On my 2nd try, I decided to have regular Beef Burrito and I ended up asking for more. Hehe. J
